This innovative seminar type at undergraduate level is directly linked to a research project at the University of Bayreuth, in one of the university’s profile areas. The Research Seminar is meant to bring students in close contact with current research in the disciplines that are part of their studies, and to involve them in specific research projects at an early stage. The Research Seminar will introduce students to research methods in cultural studies, which may embrace literary or linguistic studies. Students in this seminar will be guided to develop their own small research projects. The object is to study specific issues in connection with the seminar’s topic area. Students will have the opportunity to present their work to an academic audience and perhaps a symposium at the end of the semester.
One or more Research Seminars may be chosen during undergraduate studies. Such seminars may be chosen in the second or third year.
NB. Students who complete such a Research Seminar successfully during their last undergraduate year may gain immediate access to modules of the MA program "Intercultural Anglophone Studies." They would then gain MA credits which would be validated upon enrolment in the MA program.
